Enter The Pentathlon

Welcome to the Passing of the Ice Dragon Arts & Sciences Competition: the Pentathlon.

The Pent website includes several teaching tools to help our artisans shine. Whether you are new to competition, or a seasoned entrant, please take the time to peruse the materials provided, they are there for your benefit. Before you sign up – as an entrant or as a judge – please read the essay “What can you expect? Entering & judging Arts & Sciences competitions.” The organizers of the Pent will have the judging criteria available beforehand (see links below), so you can tailor your documentation journal to the structure and expectations of the Ice Dragon Pent format.

If you are new to entering displays & competitions and are intimidated by the writing bit, then the essay “Don’t know where to start your documentation journal? Have trouble “reading” the judging criteria? Don’t you worry, we’ve got you!” might be helpful for you. We want to help you succeed to the best of your capabilities!

Any questions can be addressed to the A&S and Pentathlon Coordinators at idpentguy@wnysca.org

REMINDER: You do NOT need to enter the Grand Pentathlon to enter the A&S competition. Single entries are welcome.

  • You may enter only one or two items.
  • You may even enter five items in five categories and still decline to enter the Grand Pentathlon.

PLEASE NOTE! As part of the Pentathlon entry form, there are a few forms you will be required to download and fill out, along with a PDF or Word Document of your project documentation. Please make sure to have all these forms and documents completed, as they are required to submit the Pentathlon entry form.

The required release forms may be found here:

If you are unsure of what to include in your project documentation, please read our helpful article to get started.

In these forms, you will want to select the checkbox that says “The SCA may publish the work on an SCA website for…” and type in “the 2024 Ice Dragon Pentathlon” in the following space. This will allow us to publish your project information on this website. The Pentathlon judges will be using this site to judge their categories, and the public will be allowed to leave moderated comments on projects as well.

The Pent organizers wish you a productive winter season, and look forward to your project entries. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Pent Coordinator at idpentguy@wnysca.org
